Our Disability Inclusion and Accessibility day at the Inclusion Festival opened with a keynote by Dr Stephen Framil, Corporate Global Head of Accessibility for Merck Sharpe & Dhome, who shared his personal story about going from an Ironman triathlete to a cancer patient with temporary disabilities and how his experience has influenced his inclusion strategies for Merck.
Nyamusi Lee, Global Head of Autism at Work and Director of Neuroinclusion Strategies, JPMorgan Chase also discussed why an evidence-led approach to inclusion is more crucial than ever, while Bob Lopez, Engage Me – Head of Culture and Diversity and Inclusion from Walmart shared a case study on building a company-wide inclusive culture, particularly with the disabled community in mind.
Our panel discussions across the day included ‘Allyship: Why Inclusion means including everyone’ featuring DI (Delmar) Lee, Global Vice President, Institute for Diversity Certification, Simon Langley, Head of Diversity and Inclusion, British International Investment, Sheila Kanani, Honorary Researcher, Lancaster University and Christina Murdock, D&I Manager, UK and Europe, Soho House. Additional panels also covered measuring disability inclusion effectively, why inclusion is essential for accessibility, and how to foster disability-inclusive leadership, including prominent figures from Atos, BBC, ASOS, the Home Office, Siemens Energy, and many more.
The day also featured an exclusive interview with Clare Cunningham, Head of Athlete Services, British Paralympic Association on The Paris Paralympics: The world’s greatest showcase for disabled talent. And we received practical tips on successful accessibility initiatives from Davina Critchley, Group Diversity, Inclusion and Accessibility Manager, Sky.
Finally, we rounded off the day with a special neurodiversity workshop, on celebrating neurodiversity at work and making meaningful change with Liam Tuohy, High-Performance ADHD Trainer, 2Tuff Health & Fitness.
